Generations of office workers once passed underneath the stone entryway and through the brass-toned doors. Now residents of the newly opened Midland Lofts can take in the Kansas City skyline view from their couches, not cubicles. Finished in 1927, the 12-story building is located downtown, adjacent to the Midland Theatre and around the corner from the Cosentino’s grocery store.

Cordish debuts ‘micro-lofts’ in former Midland offices, and they’re going fast
The Cordish Cos. has started moving residents into Midland Lofts after wrapping up construction on its conversion of the historic former office building. Cordish opened the 12-story building at 1221 Baltimore Ave. to its first residents in late August. The Baltimore developer started work on the project around spring 2023 and completed remaining interior finishes in recent months.

Built in 1927, the structure was a hot spot performers at the Midland Theater passed through. But it sat vacant for years until Cordish Companies, owners of the property, turned it into apartments.
